all wood. the base is some ply wood, the pole is a wooden dowel held up by 4 L brackets, and the Hangar/shoulder is a 2/4 that i traced and cut in the chape of a hangar. -

WWI Nerd, That would make sense! I have a copy of the 13th's unit history and I did not even think to look there. Good eye! On the subject of the disc, I wonder if there was ever a numbered disc made for the 213th Engineers? From what I have been finding online, the 213th was formed only when the 13th Division was in July 1918. I am having a hard time finding evidence of a fully-numbered 213th disc; perhaps this might explain why our soldier only has a plain "13" disc? I also found a 213th Engineer Regiment history online: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=nyp.33433000144091&seq=63 Had a hunch this would prove to be an interesting research topic!
