I found a website that lists a "L Crites" as a Pilot in the CBI who received the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross, and he's from Dallas, just down the road from the Austin suburb where the jacket showed up. I wonder if it's my guy. https://www.cbihistory.org/crites-l-c6196-0atc.cfm -

I recently got this ww1 era officers uniform. 4 star Victory Medal and Mexican War Medal. Captain bars, 6-11 service stripes and honorable discharge. I need your guys thoughts on this. The fabric looks odd to me. There is a label in the inner pocket but sadly it’s unnamed. -

Nice to meet you all, and please excuse the self-promotion. I’m a Japanese researcher who has been studying the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces for over 20 years. I’ve recently completed Volume 1 of a self-published book series based on my research, and I’d be honored to share it with you. https://rvnafpajapan.gumroad.com/l/RVNAF_1 This book illustrates and explains the uniforms and personal equipment of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces during the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War. It covers the period from 1949, when the Vietnamese National Army was established, to the fall of South Vietnam in 1975. Volume 1 focuses on the evolution of military and field uniforms, field uniform insignia, small arms, and personal equipment used by the Vietnamese infantry, airborne, ranger, and marine corps. The book consists of 79 full-color pages, primarily composed of illustrations. It is designed as an introductory guide, making it easy to understand for beginners. Number of illustrations included: 38 examples of military uniforms, 52 firearms, 145 personal equipment items, 53 combat uniforms and headgear and 318 insignia with wearing positions. My hope is that this book will contribute to a deeper understanding of the subject and help advance further research in this field. Thank you for your interest and support! -

. Normandy Find When I visited my friend Philippe owner of the Collins museum a few days ago he showed me a canvas sack that had been found locally and brought into the museum , It's a WWI dated nose feed bag for a horse. The oats feed is placed in the bottom of the bag and then attached to the horses face and strapped on. A strange find in Normandy as Cavalry were not used during the invasion in WWII, maybe a left-over from the First World War and used by a local farmer ...... Norman D. I find that a day or two in direct sunlight kills most 'funk' and then a good wipe down with a soft cloth and water, and then more sun gives pretty good results. -

That is a nice example, Dom - for sure. I am not implying otherwise, but one has to first assume that the transaction will complete (read, buyer will pay). I recently exchanged messages with a chap that "sold" a fairly high-end piece last month / May. This month, he listed it again. I inquired, and he responded that the buyer backed out due to lack of funds - I guess that's a thing now? I've also experienced (recent) instances where a seller will cancel an auction, and the app shows it as "sold" at the last bid price. But no money or item is to exchange hands. This is partially why I don't view on-line auctions / sales as a 'blue book' for militaria. Too much that I can't see. Ok, sorry, this Victory Medal: I'll state the obvious here, that when you get to 5+ campaign bars, you can narrow the recipient's unit down to a fairly short list. In this case, and anyone please correct me, I think the six bars to include the Champagne-Marne campaign makes this a 3rd ID example - including the 6th Engineers attached. I'd wager that the Silver Citation Star also pushes it a bit. Interesting...
