I'm with you that this is a reproduction as it doesn't match any of the known originals that I am aware of.  The vendor does not claim to be a patch expert but believes that this might be a rare and original piece coming out of an old collection from a deceased Korean War veteran.  He or she further states  that he or she is an honest ebayer unlike most these days as he or she prides himself or herself in honesty yet he or she does not accept returns.   The postage at 20 dollars is kind of high.  The bidding with 18 hours to go is a little above 100 dollars.  Original bullion 509th P.I.R. patches probably sell for close to 1000 dollars or more now a days so these bidders are probably new collectors and the vendor may or may not realize that he or she is selling an outright fake patch.

That's why a lot of  both officers and men modified these with pin backs to wear on dress coats and Ike jackets, even the standard one piece was a problem that's till the long clutch posts came out in the early 1960s,

Pretty good video. Thanks for posting this. i got infatuated with The Alamo as a kid, watching Duke’s movie and reading Lon Tinkle’s  “13 Days To Glory”. Since then I’ve read most everything I could get my hands on! it’s a big “Rabbit Hole” if you start exploring the myths and legends surrounding the battle!😀   I never bought into the Louis “Moses” Rose story because it only came to light 40 years later and in thiird hand testimony from a fellow named William Zuber. (IIRC) but the Texas Land Office did award land titles based on Moses’ word that “this man was there before I left”!   Bowie, Travis, and Crockett have become larger than life. There’s as much “legend” as there is known facts! Even more so in Bowie’s case!😀 I’ve been through Texas a few times driving truck, but never had an opportunity to get “boots on the ground”, unfortunately. it’s definitely on my bucket list.   BTW, the book by Wm C Davis titled “Three Roads to the Alamo” is a great place to start if you haven’t read it.
