It is in horrid shape but the paint is different than the usual and the line that goes the whole way around the top makes me think there was some sort of band there to hold something in place. -

Estate sale find, anyone know what it is or what it held? The paper came inside, the container is very heavy. Curious for a value, as I’m looking to sell. Thanks. (Pencil for scale) -

Do you know, what the number was meant to signify on the former examples you owned? -

I respect you immensely as colleagues and experts, but please, I know what I have.. and I don't want to make money from it, so can someone from this community check everything I know and what I found out and complete this puzzle, please, I have something unusual and you know it... however, I know that this forum is also monitored by a team of historians and I will only be happy if they contact me and I actually understand that, because this should not exist.... and please consider this as closed.... -

This is a direct quote from Joe *************** book (page 136) on hallmarks (FM 82-102 Field Guide to Hallmarks and Button-backs of US Military Insignia): "Gordon's Fort Meade IOH 5D, 13G, G13, M24 Military Manufacturers of Maryland (by Gordon's Fort Meade - M24) Yale Gordon Enterprises Products were sold under three names as listed above. The business was started in 1964. It is not known when they stopped." -

I figured out what this jacket was shortly after making the original post, thanks to the forum search. I bought it in 30 minutes distance from Caddo County. I believe I’ve identified the original owner, who is buried in Caddo County, but my research trail has gone cold. Aside from his enlistment record, I haven’t been able to find anything about his service. Does anyone have suggestions on where I should look next?
