. Hi Johan,   appears that there is a military vehicle event happening at Creully on the 5th of June.       Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 26 April  2O26.   ..

. Hi Johan   I doubt that I will find it anytime soon but I believe I have a photo of my closed cab GMC in virtually the same spot and same year 1984.  I think I may have added the photo to the forum but many years ago.    This one was taken closer to the castle to try and get most of the castle in the photo, the one I can't find was taken nearer the bridge I believe.     Norman D. Yes, looking forward to driving the Jeep between the hedgerows again...   Planning to recreate this photo of my Jeep in 1984. My late dad at the wheel below the castle of Creully that once housed Monty's HQ in Normandy...

I just found these photos of a circular 511th PIR occupation era patch being worn as a shoulder patch instead of a pocket patch so I'm probably wrong about your patch being worn as a pocket patch as it was probably worn as a shoulder patch.

You have a post war US made 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, pocket patch as I could be wrong but I doubt it would have been worn as a shoulder patch.  You can click on the link below for their history during WW2 and their occupation duty in Japan which is when this patch was worn.  There were several variations of this patch produced after the war (see photos).  The ones that collectors are looking for are the ones made in Japan which command the higher prices.  There is one like your patch currently up for bid on eBay for an asking price of $50.00.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/511th_Infantry_Regiment_(United_States)

I couldn't have passed those by without having a good look just to check what was in there. Found some nice pieces over the years hidden amongst piles of non war time items. You have to look or just forget. Now you've spent a week wondering what you might have missed.🤨
