Dear fellow collectors,   Over the past week, I have acquired several insignia to help make my scrapbook more complete. However, I notice quite a few differences on the reverse sides, and since I mainly collect World War II–related items, I am curious about their authenticity and period. I also have a question regarding the Hell on Wheels Tab: were these already in use during World War II? It would be a wonderful addition to my collection, as my hometown was liberated by this division in 1944. I would greatly appreciate the opinions and expertise of collectors who are more knowledgeable in this field.   Thank you in advance.

Cool! One of those odd things you have to think about a good way to display.

Recently heard that Eagle Shows is closed and Eastern Gun Expo is handling the Marlborough MA show in September as well as PA. I was surprised to hear that especially since Eagle Shows had good turnouts there.  Has anyone heard if Eastern Gun Expo will be adding additional shows in MA area - Western Springfield The Big E or Sturbridge in the near future?  Also heard some minor issues at their PA shows/other locations- public carrying concealed, a few vendors firearms and military dealers gave the vibes of being hustlers.

After further review that is not Lt. Goode. He is obviously a Christian and the Lt. Goode was Jewish.

I recently picked up this photograph that states across the bottom, “The Chaplain School, Harvard University, August 11-September 5, 1942.” I at first found it interesting that there were ten African-American officers in the class, obviously it wasn’t segregated, I then did a little research. With that said I believe the four chaplains that went down aboard the USAT Dorchester in February 1943 may be in this photograph. I believe I have found two of them and then my eyes bugged out. I will let the photos speak for themselves and I would appreciation any opinions or further information on the chaplains.

It has all the characteristics of a war-made wing. I have no problems with this wing.

Hi Kyle,   Thank you for the thoughtful response. I completely understand your point regarding the absence of the Purple Heart medal itself and how that affects collectors who focus on complete KIA groupings.   What has always stood out to me about this archive is the amount of original material that survived with it. Beyond the medals and awards, it includes over 200 pages of primary-source documentation, original photographs, casualty correspondence, award paperwork, MACR 9778, eyewitness accounts, German reports related to the loss, and the wartime press material sent to the family.   For me, the historical value has always been in the ability to follow Lt. Andrews’ story from training through combat service and ultimately his loss in action. Whether viewed as a medal group or a research archive, I appreciate your perspective and your taking the time to comment.
