. END OF AN ERA in STE MERE EGLISE . It is extremely sad news for local and international visitors, the world famous STOP BAR changes ownership in the coming weeks. I first met Serge and Celine eighteen years ago at their previous bar where he would hold MOD scooter and music nights, he being a Retro-Mod and I actually being a MOD back in the days when it began and happened. Seven years ago Serge and Celine bought the STOP BAR in Ste Mere Eglise and it became a cult cafe' for scooters, motorcycles, classc cars, Jeeps and all military vehicles, collectors, re-enactors, and serving soldiers visiting in June each year for the annual anniversaries. Each night in June week thousands would congregate in and around the bar outside to socialise. Serge and Celine were always happy to have our Jeeps parked outside the bar when we made rendezvous for coffee, so much so that Serge ended up buying a Jeep for their own collection and use. When they closed for annual holidays I would always enjoy emailing them a photo of the bar, sometimes with us sat outside with our own table and chairs, other times I photo-shopped banners across the front of the store and emailed to them wherever they were on holiday. So we now have to wait to meet the new owners and see if they will be carrying on with the traditions that have become enjoyable times. Norman D. Interesting. Is it possible for him to have been a Sgt despite having served one year? -

Pictures of the Black Hussar Uniform and inscription on back. Also a list of members of the Yolo County Mexican War Veterans Group. The last is a letter from his relatives to the Army about this medal in 1954. -

Hello everyone, I'm an avid collector of 19th and early 20th century American Militaria. I’m currently located in Hyattsville, Maryland, just a few blocks from the nations capitol. I've been actively collecting for about 8 years now and have amassed a modest collection of pieces dating from the war of 1812 up to the 2nd world war. I have many interesting pieces that I am looking forward to share and hope to learn a great deal from you all as well. Trevor, J.
