Acquired this group awhile back I'd do a write up but this newspaper article I will attach does a pretty good job talking about his service. The article also mentions both foreign decorations pictured in this group.

Very nice 90mm and '917601's' collection!....I was at an estate sale a couple days ago and cannot figure this shell casing out.....They had it listed at 23" tall and as luck would have it, I didn't have a tape measure to denote the size of round it would have accepted.....There was absolutely nothing on the bottom but the fuse arrangement makes me believe it's an American casing.....Was rather light actually....There is a swastika painted in red and what looks to be damage below that, but was instead a smudge from something....They were asking $145 on day one....Anybody readily recognize what it could be for?.....My apologies for interrupting this thread....Bodes        

It is a very accurate historical summary, although there is a small geographical detail at the end that is worth clarifying: Prestwick Airport is not located in "Bootland", but in Scotland, United Kingdom..
