Thanks Scott. I live very close to Adair, and have spent time there in years past. I was trying to make an Adair connection, but can't come up with anything for the "L" either. -

Thank you! I want to say the toggle switches are for either troubleshooting or setting up for the two system types. I'm not super familiar with jammers (due to the airframe I work on not having one), but that is my guess. Looks like the safety wire for system 1 is to keep it in "transmit" and system 2 has the other setting. The 130 photos are from old gunship types, this particular display case is filled with older Air Force items that I couldn't fit anywhere else. -

The patch itself is really nice 1940’s era “ribbed embroidery” . Apparently “repurposed “ with post factory manufacture over embroidery on the ax head. “AL” could stand for just about anything and we’ll probably never know what it stands for. -

It means he doesn't know his Army ribbons very well. The SSI looks original to the jacket. A soldier wears the SSI of the organization to which he is assigned. Many possibilities exist for which SSI a doctor might wear. That insignia on the collar is for an officer of the Army Medical Corps, more than likely a doctor. "Medics" generally were enlisted men. -

I think your issue is that you believe the initials belong to the officer. My opinion is that they were reused and reissued to someone else. Hence two different identifying marks. Ive found leggings with four or five different names in them -

I have an ultrasonic cleaner. What is a fair price for the Badge? I could offer him that. Laurence -

All the value would be in the badge (in such poor condition, cap itself has little value). But with all the verdigris on the badge, it is worth far below $99. Still can’t get over his description. He comes off as a wannabe Hallmark card inscription writer: “hat oozes been there character, displaying a perfect, untouched patina that collectors dream of.” “an exceptional 100% authentic piece of WW2 medical military history”, -

As far as I know, there is no Army Commendation Ribbon. what does its absence signify? Do you think he added the ETO SSI? what does the ASF SSII look like? Is the ASF SSI what a Medic would wear rather ETO Communications Zone SSI? Thanks again -

Most defiantly was. I missed the rationing by a few years but remember the stories from mom and dad. Dad a WW2 veteran. After poking around several of the WW2 Patten training camps my eyes were opened up by what I was not seeing a lot of what I had expected to see if that makes any since.
