Hello Is this a Civil war era US Officers Belt and buckle? I was told, (hard to read) that the belt marking is watervleit Arsenal NY. The Buckle is marked #326. There is also a mark on the belt leather -it appears that it is GB?? Thank you -

Bannermans had thousands of them. It was common for dealers to pull the NY state plate off and put a 1881 US plate on. -

I believe I bought this grouping off Facebook's "Deal or No Deal" page. Why did I get it? Because it's a 40th Infantry Division uniform of course. "I. C." stands for Inspected & Condemned. The helmet body was deemed unserviceable and turned in for sale as surplus, or destroyed.
