The M1 helmet shell was the same for bot the M1 and M1C. The liners where different configuration as were the chinstraps. As stated prior the M1C had the extra tab with snap to secure the liner to the shell to reduce or prevent separation of the liner and shell when parachuting.    This said it is not uncommon to see  airborne liners used in a M1 shell with standard straps. There are several photos of Marines in Vietnam wearing airborne liners in phptos by David Duncan Douglas. Possible the Marines were issued these to fill a requirement or shortage or to use when aboard helicopters etc. A liner is a liner as they. ALso not uncommon to see the Marines still using WW2 era helmet covers in early vietnam. The mosquito net style shows up in photos as does the standard hbt covers.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, now it’s super clear about the little short straps! So the only difference between an M1 steel pot and an M1-C is the chinstrap? I suppose The shell is the same?   I’ve searched and read several topics on the forum, I know there are tons of info but I preferred to ask time being completely now in collecting M1 helmet 😄

A close family friend got ordained in a nondenominational “church” only in order to officiate my daughter’s wedding back in February. If inclined, you could always do so as well. It could be a good side career. Or maybe your primary one?

Another good verse since I’m younger    1 Timothy 4:12   Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Of course it will be in a respectful way. Andy I won’t be baptizing babies 🤣

I actually have a verse for that thanks to shiba, and I have another one in mind to say to people if they get offended.

I totally agree with all the above comments! The shading and colors of equipment is fantastic.  You've got a great eye and steady hand, well done.

Pocket added inside large pocket. Any ideas as to why, or was it just to hold his smokes. Thanks
