Thank you for the insight! I did not know, that it was mandatory to fasten the neck button... I don't even want to imagine how uncomfortable this must have been... Especially with all the gear, it must have felt like a noose...

I never said it was model, I said it was made in 1931 and was inspired by previous uniforms and ideas.  

That makes sense, thank you :)) But why was this a common thing with the og107 jungle fatigues then? Wouldn't the same standard apply to these as well?   Jules

Recently saw this on line a took a shot at this strange looking patch that I had never seen before and apparently just missed by others. Once I received and examined visually and blacklight test negative,I went to references to check branch colors and found black insert was for Chaplain service. Apparently these were for officers. Perhaps a new discovery and if so probably as rare or more so than finance ,armor and aviation versions.  

That is a General, they had the option of modifying or even designing their own uniform. It is basically a Model 1902 uniform with embellishments and in all probability was a one off, the caption on the picture says it was made in 1931 not a Model 1931 worn by all officers or even generals.

It IS an info repository, and a valuable one. Your cartridge is like one my uncle gave me when I was a kid, though I don’t remember the head stamp it had. He was in the Guard, not a collector, so it was probably current issue at that time, early 1970s?  Do you have any information on your round? It must be fairly early for the M16?  mikie
