Last year we received the Purple Heart, interment flag and paperwork for Private First Class Ralph H. Hamann, Killed in Action in WWII. This weekend his grandson brought some more artifacts the family located. Just days after Private Hamann was KIA, nearly all of his unit's men were killed or captured and all their vehicles lost in General Patton's raid on Hammelburg in an attempt to liberate the General's son-in-law...... None of this is Polar Bear or North Russia, its all from the Siberian expedition. Polar Bears would be 339th Infantry, 310th Engineers, and 337th Hospital and Ambulance, also 167th and 168th Transportation. Scott -

hello, I do not specialize in Colts. That being said I have been studying them for a spell. I think $1200 is too low. A good reproduction can cost this. That being said, unless the money is needed (I have been there), I would recommend not selling this since it is a family heirloom. I am not a jewelry guy, but my parents gave me a broach from my great-great-great-grandmother for safe keeping. I will eventually pass it on to one of my children. just food for thought. But if there is no one there to pass it to; collectors are the best care takers in my opinion. But if you do sell, I would expect a higher price. I think around 2k is a fair offer. I would not take less. Nice pistol rig! -

I have not looked these up, but if this is Polar Bear Expedition insignia, this is a serious collection! Killer! This is a way underappreciated genre of history... -

OK, I'm going down a rabbit hole on VA-175 for a bit. Here are some photos from when VA-175 was un the USS Roosevelt in 1952 under the Command of Ross Knight. Ross Knight (Right) taking command of VA-175 from Malcolm Wolfe, 1952. -
