Well the sling would have been whatever the receiving unit had on hand and at what time. More and more M1 slings became common into later 1943. I am fond of the webbed M1 sling due to its simplicity and economy of materials….just like the O3-A3 itself.

Great helmet, the part on the top mounted to a rod in the cockpit. That way the canon was aimed at where you looked. Flying around and focussing with one eye on the sight was not what I was made for.

Thanks for posting that, Oldcoolc. And it is only $125 plus $10 shipping. Interestingly, the “new and improved” version is missing two letters from the word “paratrooper”. And whenever I see those little “ant soldiers” it just screams ”FAKE”!

Camillus's screw on pommels were all Navy contracted.  Of all the WW2 manufactures of the 1219C2 pattern knives Camillus was the last to receive a contract for the Marine Corps. and by then they had already introduced the cross-pin pommel/tang construction method eventually adapted by the other manufactures.

One thing, Western wasn't making any sheaths themselves until after the War was over and they incorporated a leather shop into their operation in 1954.  Until then all sheaths were subcontracted.

Yes, that's the one! 😊   If I recall correctly this was the only one at the show and I think I saw it a few times over the years? I'll have to go through my (analog) photo's.   Such a great show, really a shame how it was run into the ground in only a few years...
