    • Uniforms of the Day
Although they did look it in my initial photos, none of tgese badges are subdued. The CMB especially, just has a deep, uniform tarnish. All the badges are just tarnished silver.

Hello I did not see his name in the index in Vol. 2 of Deeds of Valor
    • John Sr.
I have accumulated Mr. Cole’s books 2, 3, & 4. But, I am having trouble finding out the name of the original book (book 1). Is the book in the photo the first in the series please? I’m hoping to find a decent condition book 1 and then at some point HOPEFULLY find an affordable “The Best Of” book.

The leather blanket roll strap is an infantry item. It's not used with the saddle at all.

Here's a few you might be able to use. Marv

Did also have a Anvis mount come in around the same time but I also had to paint the visor cover before I did that. But now everything but the boom assembly is on and functional and I need to either find a small cable tie since I want to add a lip light or forget that and just use velcro between the mic and the light.

To add to the above information:    Based on the morning reports provided above, it looks like he was in the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Oregon, before he was pulled from that program (the ASTP was being greatly reduced at that time in order to provide infantryman and to fill other Army manpower shortages).    Info on the ATSP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Specialized_Training_Program   Note: It appears he shared a service number, 15306727, with another ATSP student soldier, Lewis C. Hullinger, who was at Ohio State University until being discharged during Mar 44.   Based on the information provided above, it would seems he left for the ETO at some point after July 44, and ended up at (a) 9th Army field hospital(s).  As best I can tell, there were at least two field hospitals associated with the 9th Army: the 45th and 67th.   Dan

The parts I ordered came in which consisted of Ear seals and the drop cord which were promptly installed and the liner put back into place after putting in the double visor assembly. Waiting on the boom assembly to come in so I can put that on and add the NIP surplus M87 Mic that I have along with NOS cable. The speakers I installed in the earcups are surplus H-347 speaker elements which are similar to the H-143 speaker elements which are both 19 Ohms.

OH That's great!! Thank you!  I can picture the French moving into line as that music plays.  I've watched that movie probably 2 dozen times.  Can't find anything on YouTube or elsewhere, I go to Waterloo with that great opening scene (which was partly perhaps entirely fictional), but I love it.

Rock Island is often the more desirable of the two makers of this period (SA and RIA).  The bayonet is in pretty good shape.  I noticed that this scabbard is one that has been modified.  This is the first modification which (according to Gary Cunningham) was done about 1915. Rock Island removed the older Krag belt hanger and wrapped the throat metal with leather and made provision for the double belt hook. This was to make the scabbard compatible with the ammo belt and to match the attachment of the 1910 canvas scabbard.  Later on, this scabbard had another modification. They added a leather cap to the end of the scabbard to either to reinforce or repair the tip. I have not seen too many of them. I'm a little old school when it comes to these prices.  $500 seems a little high. $400 to 450 might be more of what I see,  but times have changed. Marv
