Belay the fixed bale comment, I think those are swivels! It's a front seam for sure though. I have another fixed bale helmet and I think I'm used to just saying that combo. -

Hello, Thank you for your response, but I am familiar with the general purpose of a generator. I would like to know which unit this E-1500 generator was assigned to and what its specific purpose was. Bertrand -

. It's that darn Ai again But this time it's created a photograph I didn't make at all at the time. About 1972 I attempted to do some serious hill climbing in my Jeep to try and reach the peak of one of the UK's highest hills. About a third of the way I slid on the loose shale and became stuck in some boggy ground, I tried for some time to get unstuck but in the end I realised I needed help. I walked back down into the valley in the hope of finding a friendly tractor owner, or four wheel drive owner, instead I passed a camp of Boy Scouts and taking a chance I proposed to the scout leader giving the boys some exercise and something to do, along with a monetary donation to the scout association. Long story short we all climbed the track until we reached tha Jeep and with a lot of tugging and pushing freed the Jeep, at which I took the better part of valour and decided to admit defeat and descended the way I have come. It was never attempted again. Now in 2026 sat having coffee this morning with a friend he offered to attempt an Ai image of anything I wanted, I thought of the day back in 1972 of the Jeep ascending this hill, a hill I have climbed several times in my life, the first when at a mountain climbing school in my final year at school and the last time about five years ago. The Jeep is not mine but an Ai representation image, and the mountain path is a true depiction of that route, at the time I was wearing normal civilian clothes and not a uniform as shown. Although a true story and event, it does feel a fraud resorting to an Ai image for something I never photographed. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 10 June 2O26. .. -

. Hi Johan. I have mentioned it before but back in the 1970's on our tours through Normandy we found several four-wheel steer Jeeps abandoned on farms and sadly did nothing about it, not highly desirable back in the 1970's , now part of the holy grail of Jeep models. I suppose a four-leg steer would be a cow is that right 🤣 Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 10 June 2O26. .. -

The Jan 1945 War Dept Itemized Baggage List states ". . . for flying personnel with an authentication of flying status in possession . . . other personnel traveling by tactical aircraft . . . " could chose an A-2 or B-15 jacket (either was acceptable). Before this an A-2 was standard issue along with a summer flying suit (the B-15 did not replace the A-2, but was issued along side it). Additional items, such as winter flying suits or jackets, would be dictated by your use conditions (do keep in mind that WWII fighter planes could reach 40,000ft). There are a number of WWII photos with pilots wearing their A-2 plus other jackets, flying suits, etc. Not until 26 Feb 1951 was the A-2 replaced by the B-15C. -

Welcome back to the forum Vincent and just so you know that's a really great photograph of you. You look like you could've been there during WWII. If I were a casting director (which I'm not) you'd be my first pick for a War Correspondent. Awesome! Also, thank you for participating in the Normandy celebrations. -

There is a separate thread by the poor soul, who bought this jacket. According to vintageproductions and kammoman, it is fake (done by an apparently well-known faker). Nothing new obviously, but I am always sad to see, that people get ripped off like that...
