For a general officer, looks a bit young. I suspect a put-together representative uniform. -

Here is a picture from Pintrest. It shows a US general officers uniform, I cabling read the name tag. But has a LOM with a device that shouldn’t be there. A lot of work went into this uniform and wondering whose it might be and if real, why isn’t it correct. -

Was at the local swapper today and it did not disappoint. Picked up the pictured items: US M1903 stripped stock. Very small crack at the very back end where receiver meets stock. Nice WW2 period marking on left side + "circle-P" on underside. Most interesting is markings on left side of stock "N.Z.AD." (the "A" is actually a broad arrow) | "1445". Also were two M1 carbine handguards. Next is a US LF&C 1917 mess knife, Soviet AK/SKS sling, Romanian SKS stripper-clip cartridge pouch and a pair of new Pachmayer rubberized grips for the Browning Hi-Power. After that are a very nice pair of US arctic mittens with wool liners dated 1948... just in time for Korea. The last find was hanging on a shirt rack and a breeze revealed the 1st Cav patch. I inquired and added it to my stash. Think the total was $70.00 for everything. Unfortunately, there was no additional info on the 1st Cav. Flyer's Kit bag... -

The "701" is a unit number. The other disk on the soldier's uniform would show the type of unit. For the Army Distinctive Unit Insignia, from left to right, 17th Infantry Regiment, 22nd Infantry Regiment, and 34th Infantry Regiment. Based on the DUI identifications, the 701 may be theb701st Maintenance Battalion. I think they are all 7th Infantry Division units. -

Thank you for the info. I compared it to the pictures and info of the reproductions and was fairly confident in it's legitimacy but I'm always up for reaching out to the community for info and help with things I definitely don't claim to be an expert in. It was a great find and I didnt expect to own one. Let alone find one before I've even bought the rifle it goes on. Oh well, I guess that's my next purchase then. -

I agree with you on the low number Silver Star. The earliest Silver Star number in General Orders I've seen for WW2 is 14062. Kevin
