Hi Matt,    Clearly I got lost in the sea of Robert G. Roger’s.    The owner of the trunk is a friend of my husband‘s boss. To be quite frank, he spent at least some portion of his life as a hoarder. He had been storing a number of collectibles and family items in an old trailer house. That was fine and dandy until some raccoons made a home in said trailer house. As they are not young and able-bodied, we have been helping them get the items worth saving and sentimental things out of the trailer before the shell is burned. I was trying to sort through things when I spotted this trunk under a mountain of chairs and raccoon feces. When I drug it outside, he remembered buying it at an auction. He collects firearms and it may have been bundled in with something else he bought. I just called them to inquire about where he got it. They agree that it was an in person live auction, but there is some dispute about where. His wife thinks the sale was near Cayuga or Lidgerwood, North Dakota while he thinks the sale was closer to Oakes, North Dakota. They don’t have a specific date that they think they purchased it, but their estimate is at least 10 years ago. They mentioned that they never took anything out of it because they intended to try find the family, it has just taken longer than originally planned.   Given that information, your theory about the Fargo Robert seems quite plausible. Is there a way to find out if the Robert in the morning reports you shared is the Dr. Robert from Fargo?    My lack of knowledge about military documentation has me at a disadvantage. Is there a document that has a soldier’s birthdate and their service number?    attaching a few more images of contents

Thank you. I really wanted a Colt but when something like this  comes along, I could not be picky. Here it is paired with my 1944 dated Garand

I have 4.5 inches of clips on this rod.  24 clips X 4.5 = 108 clips I am currently 168 clips from a full rod!!

The rod (?) is 13 inches long and 1 3/16 inches wide.  By my calculations, it takes 24 clips to equal an inch.  The stop, or pin to keep the clips from sliding off is 1 1/2 inches from the end, leaving a maximum of 11 1/2 inches to place clips.  24 clips X 11.5 inches = 276 clips per rod.

I have never seen one.  Interesting!

Envious... a bring back 1911 is really hard to find.

I would like to know the story on this machine. The reason I’m interested is I have a piece of it. It’s a clover leaf shaped piece of wood that feeds the clips into the loader. It’s kind of a clip magazine!! I need another 100 clips to fill it up!!

hello, If it were me, I would actually be comfortable with the 'copy'. I.E. it is not an official marker.  Someone made a copy for whatever reason.  I can understand wanting an original, but I know what it means to have an original.  It was likely stolen from a cemetery.  So, sort of like ivory, I would not want to fuel the demand for these by purchasing the real thing.   I have seen these grave markers in the wild still in southern cemeteries.  Every time I see one, I wonder how long it will be left alone.  I would imagine there are better repros of these or a 'commemorative' version or copy available.  Maybe the UDC is willing to sell a damaged 'replaced' version if contacted?  Sort of like when the Navy replaces damaged parts of the USS Constitution...  I would contact the UDC and explain why I wanted one to commemorate my family history.  They may be willing to work with you because of that reason.  Just my thoughts.  Cheers!
