I got some nice items from an antique store yesterday, and wanted to share them here. My first item is a U.S. army enlisted man’s uniform, but he has the rank of command sergeant major, which is mainly why I bought it. It also seems to be custom tailored to him. for $20 I think I did ok. My next item is not actually from the antique store, but a friend of mine who does not collect military items went to the dump and they had a free item pile, so he grabbed me an Ike jacket hoping it was genuine. He said he looked through the whole pile but there was nothing else military. Anyways, it’s a staff sergeants Ike with a 5th infantry division patch. I als found some nice items inside the pockets which I will share with you. My next item is something I already posted in real or what, but would like to share here. It is a WWII trench art engraved lighter from an armored division. I find it really nice and think I did well for $20. Next is a 20mm shell with the projectile and original paint. As some of you know, I like ordnance and couldn’t resist for only $20. Kind of funny how everything was 20… finally I have a 40mm bofors dated 1943, which I also couldn’t resist for $20. Looks -

Hi there, Here is a panel I’ve just discovered in a medical lot. At first, I believed it was a Navy flag, but actually, I think this is a rare ID panel used by the 7th Infantry Division. -

I feel that what you see here is part of the history of this 100 plus year old uniform. These men came home and the uniforms were put into storage...sometimes in the closet or a trunk, other times in a barn or shed. If it were a blank uniform I'd salvage the buttons, etc. As complete as it is I guess I would try and save the poor thing. I would give it a good cleaning to get rid of droppings issues and then would preserve it, as is, ugly damage and all. There are amazing restorations processes out there that could repair the sleeve (not restore but stabilize, etc.) and who knows what restoration processes will be developed in the coming years? This is just my opinion and I understand wanting to save only the insignia, etc.
