There is the possibility that this was an unauthorized US Army rigger wing. This the fourth such wing combination that has surfaced over the years that I have been searching for variants of US paratrooper wings. The first one I came across was an Australian made USAAC flight wing hallmarked WALLACE BISHOP SILVER BRISBANE with a Wallace Bishop made US paratrooper wing minus the wings cut off superimposed in the center. I have a Wallace Bishop hallmarked US paratrooper wing in my collection and they match. This is owned by a very knowledgeable and advanced worldwide parachute insignia collector out of Australia. He told me that this was made for a USMC rigger while stationed in Australia during the war. My guess is that this was his attempt at copying the unauthorized US Navy Rigger wing that you come across made by AMICO and sort of adopted by USMC Paramarines at the end of the war. I have in my collection a USAAC observer flight wing made by Blackinton with a superimposed paratrooper wing with the wings cut off. I have no provenance. I have seen a third wing that was made from a Beverly Craft USAAC aircrew flight wing with a paratrooper wing superimposed in the middle with the wings cut off. There was no provenance with this wing as well. So this is the fourth such wing modification that I have come across. However this is the most convincing having provenance and the wear of the silver plating and patina on the shoulder of the flight wings matches the wear and patina on the parachute. I don't know that much about riggers but I noticed the color of the piping on the overseas cap. Did riggers wear blue piping like the infantry or did they wear a different color like the piping on this cap? -

Found this topic while searching for something else. I use a repro ww2 scarf and jeep cap in the winter. Occasionally will use a canteen cup or mess kit spoon. Sometimes wear a og-107 field coat and a few other bits of clothing. I like to use my ucp assault pack for the flea market, though for what ever reason I aways seem to get asked if I'm in the military or a veteran when I do. And I use modern patrol caps for yard work as well as a very beat up pistol belt to carry a machete or other things. -

Thank you very much for the confirmation! Where did you find this image if I can ask? In all my searches I could not find an example online. -

Allied Net sighting, September 1944. Sergeant of the 3rd Panzergrenadier Division, 3rd Panzergrenadier Division just arriving from Italy to the West Front and making its presence known. Action Photo during heavy fighting at Pont-à-Mousson during the unsuccessful attack by the 317th Infantry 80th Infantry Division trying to force the Mosel in September 44, in subsequent counter attack small detachments of the 317th Infantry outposting the north tip of the Ste. Geneviève Ridge were driven back into the 318th Infantry positions. Communications were destroyed and command posts overrun. the command post of the 318th Infantry in a sharp fight briefly halted the German attack, but the regimental commander, Colonel. Harry D. McHugh, was wounded, part of the regimental staff was captured, and about 120 officers and men were killed., that's how heavy the fighting is, and it shows on this Unteroffizer's face -

I got a pair of “private sergeant majors” of these from my uncle who was an MP in Baghdad, he did 2 tours and spent 2 years overseas. Never knew what they were till seeing this thread! Not sure where or who made them, but they sure are neat. I wonder if he ever wore them lol. He was in around 2006-2009 -
