Old thread, but a couple I've picked up.

I am so old I remember when that was the "Gold Standard" of US military reference books.  Not disparaging current works nor "internet researching", just saying that was the "Bible" back in the day when you ran to the mailbox for lists of stuff for sale after you sent a "prepaid self-addressed, stamped envelope.     OD

Digging through some of these older armor threads has been fun and sad.  A lot has changed.

This is an old one.  I later found another one of these in a collection.  I was told they were given to the Womens Ordnance Workers by one of the armored divisions.

Well the bayonet started out being made FOR the British by Remington Arms; but with the entry of the US into WW1 the US Ord Dept took them for US use and over stamped the Brit markings with US acceptance markings. The Brit Mod 1903 scabbard was used for the Brit issue bayonets but the US developed a similar scabbard that attached to the US belts.

Greetings and welcome. You live in a very beautiful area of France and I always enjoy visiting Belleau…… I was just there last autumn.

We inherited this bayonet a number of years ago and are just getting around to decide what to do with it. In doing some research, I'm pretty sure it is a 1913 pattern bayonet made in 9/1917.  It has a really nice eagle and bomb with US. It seems these bayonets are often stamped with English markings and the US markings removed, or stamped over.  It is paired with a British pattern 1913 leather scabbard stamped H.G.R. (and other info yet to be figured out) which seems like a reasonable scabbard for the bayonet. I guess I'm hoping for confirmation on the bayonet.  Thanks.
