Is there a source for Mk2 grenade fuze gaskets? I know that I could use a considerable number of them as over the years they seemed to get lost or broken. -

1973 was the year of the big fire at the records center. Many, many WW2 personnel records were destroyed including my dad’s. I try not to think about it because it really ticks me off. The good news is there are other ways to put together your dad’s history and there are many folks on the forum that can help you with that. -

Nice scores, SonofNamVet! As an aside, the guy in the first photo that I enlarged here: … is carrying his M26 hand grenade on his harness. This tells us, even without looking at the background that he’s operating in a mountainous region, a semi-cleared area, or a rice paddy. On the other hand, if he was patrolling in jungle there are too many things, such as bamboo and “wait-a-minute” vines, that could pull that grenade pin out. So, these grenades in the jungle were usually carried in a pouch or an old Claymore Mine bag or something similar. -

That is very helpful! Thank you for the history and what to look out for. The University of Cincinnati sounds right with the "UC" on the front. Very cool stuff. Thank you, Hayden -

Were there butane lighters in Vietnam? I have one that my grandfather gave me. He had it in Germany in 62 with the 5th armored division -

With the Ohio buttons, it is very likely University of Cincinnati. Here is a photo from an auction site that the seller claims is of a cadet from University of California, Berkley. This is just to give you an idea of what "UC" can represent.
