Hey everybody.    On my way to St. Louis for a robotics tournament, and on the way I picked up this bugle. It was advertised as a WWII bugle, is it?   Either way I'm happy with my find, as I got it for free.    Thanks!   Wade  

If I'm not mistaken, it is the Coast Guard issued versions of the EAME/PAC medal that had slot brooch. Very nice addition. I picked up one as well.

Agreed. I have an absolutely mint Remington 03-A3 that is stamped OG.  All parts and stock are correct with minimal wear.  Nothing looks replaced or refinished.

Hi y'all, my name is Justin and I was on the forum a few years ago, but am back again. I mainly collect WW2 memorabilia, although a have a bit of Nam and Cold War also.   I was raised in a navy town and in the 80s, so I've always had an interest in military, but I really got into collecting when I inherited my grandfather's personal items from WW2 and then started reaching it all- and it hasn't stopped!   I'll be posting my stuff slowly, and will be lurking in the discussion forums researching like I have for the last 5 years. This site is one of the most useful source of militaria information I have found and one of the last sites of user contributions where clickbait isnt the end goal.

The son of a plumber, he was a typical American boy who worked hard and played (sports) harder. A basketball star, he used his leadership of the Lafayette High School varsity team to put on community fundraising games hosted at the University of Kentucky to raise money for the war effort.   Upon graduation in May 1944, he enlisted in the USMC and, after receiving high marksmanship scores in basic, was selected for scout sniper school to train in sniping, recon, and intelligence gathering. He was then sent to the 5th Marine Division in California.   Assigned to the 27th Replacement Draft of the 5th Marine Division, he was in floating reserve off the coast of Iwo Jima until he joined H Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines on March 1, 1945, while they were pushing to flank the unfinished airfield on the Motoyama Plateau.    On March 2, H Company took part in a bitter assault against Japanese caves and strongpoints near the airfield. With no tank support, it was man on man fighting through the rocks against countless snipers and machine gun nests. A Silver Star and Navy Cross came from the actions of men in H Company that day. During the attack, Daley was struck in the face by shrapnel and evacuated to the regimental aid station for recovery.    Not one to stay back after one day on the line, Daley rejoined his company on March 4, fighting the next three weeks with 3/26 as it slogged through the rocky crevices and canyons of northern Iwo Jima until all resistance was eliminated.    Daley did not receive his Purple Heart until April 1946 and returned home a few months later. He went on to earn a mechanical engineering degree from UK, marry, and spend a career working on projects for NASA, the Minute Man missiles, and numerous buildings across the country. He passed in 1999 and is buried in Lexington.
