Yes, the DUKW is a large and slow vehicle on the road, but in this case there's no-one to blame but the van driver who was driving under the influence of alcohol and cut the corner while there was enough space for two vehicles to pass on that street. Furthermore the bow of the DUKW had magnetic white LED lights for added visibility as shown on the photo below. It's just bad luck and one second earlier or later would have made a difference...    

I would also like to know if this Vietnam Republic medal is original from that era.   Thank you for your help and best regards

Hello everyone: I would like your help in confirming if these Officer's collar badges are original WWII-era badges, to complete an Ike Jacket tailored Officer's uniform.

Most all of these are JRTC OPFOR-only badges. A few are from the original NTC OPFOR era.

Hello,  I just started collecting USAF patches, and my knowledge is very limited. Now I have a chance to acquire the attached TPS Instructor patch though somebody my friend knows. I understand that it is very hard to get, even with my little knowledge. The problem is I couldn't tell whether this is real or fake or reproduction since I have never seen a real one, and a bit different design from what I see on the internet. I need help from experienced fellows in the forum. And I would like to know also what the market value is if it is real, and what era this patch was worn by servicemen. Thank you  

Update based on feedback so far. Dropped to 3 tiers. Less complex.  Tier 1: Validated A. Government, manufacturer, or other archival documentation from period of issue directly tracking weapon disposition by exact SN.  Normally obtained through research but may sometimes accompany a weapon from the original owner or seller (requires authentication) . Also includes period engraving or unit markings when verified as legitimate  by a recognized expert (other than the seller).  Item may or may not be in original condition; value accordingly based on normal retail of a similar weapon + history (famous person, unit, ship, or location adds higher interest regardless of originality).  Tier 2: Attributed Acquisition directly from veteran, immediate family, or estate accompanied by other personal documentation and supporting evidence including period photos, service records, etc. that align with specific item attributes and claims. Item should be period correct (otherwise there will always be a possibility that it was acquired later or confused with a similar item).  Tier 3: Plausible Linkage. Weapon with a second or third hand story and enough detail (including things like a named accessory) to track the item to the original veteran or seller enabling further “Tier 2” type research. This is the “buy the item not the story” level that equates to a “maybe”. Post-war modifications like refinish or other customization generally drop interest and resale value without Tier 1 level verification. Buyer beware; no premium.

Reviving this thread to add another variation I picked up as the combat patch on a UCP ACU at a thrift store.

I'd have to find it to check, but I've got a Cargo Handling Battalion fatigue shirt where the patch is right shoulder.   Thanks for the pics River Rat!
