Considering the construction and how you found them, I'd say they are certainly theater-made tapes.    The font and condition are easily explained by how many different tailor shops GI's had access to overseas.  Some were better than others, and some had their own preference for what fonts they used in patches.  (Just look at how many different styles of unit patches Vietnam troops had made.  They ranged from very primitive to absolute gorgeous works of embroidery.)

Hi Peter, so that B52 OCAMA (Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area) has some screw holes on the far right side of it that I believe would've attached to the top of a doorway or area in a shop or place where airplane maintenance was being done.  Then I believe some sort of other sign hung down from the lower holes on the bottom.

Agreed, I lean more towards your theory. I was just throwing the idea out there. Looks humped up to, I agree.

This is another interesting use of the early M82 scope and rings and its mentioned in a manual as well I was told.

I didn't find either in the FAA registry but that doesn't mean one or both aren't still out there.    I found a couple of "survivor" lists for the 10A and 1139 isn't on them though 1138 is. No idea how complete/current/accurate the lists I found are.    Have not found much on the C-47 S/N in question beyond what Joe Baugher lists.

I'm fairly certain these are real (as in "of the era").  They were found in box full of his personal Vietnam artifacts. But I'm puzzled by the strange font and inconsistent quality. Any explanations are appreciated.
