There is a section here titled "Family Search and Returns", maybe others too. You should review that series of threads to see the thousands of ways artifacts leave family hands. You could also check with your family and if they sold off his military items. Good luck.

OK, the 43 FMS was part of the 43 Bomb Wing as you suspected. The other two look Japan made, one for the 374 Troop Carrier Wing (Heavy) and the other for the 374 Flight Line Maintenance Sq. Both look 1950s era. Really cool you have his stuff.   Randy

Hello. This was my grandfather and I'm wondering how you came to posses his cap?

Let's back-track to World War II; Matthew was the executor of his neighbor's estate and had a few items left, including a nice 1976 history of the 94th Infantry Division...Technician 4th Class Philip Mitchell served with the Headquarters Battery, 356th Artillery Battalion, 94th Infantry Division in France, Germany and the Battle of the Bulge. The leather folder, which many soldiers were given or purchased, contains all of his military service documents.  Sadly, who knows where his luger is now????   ...and so it goes...   Mark sends

Skipping ahead to the Cold War, Lieutenant Ruttle's son, Air Force Staff Sergeant Patrick J. Ruttle (shown circa 1950-1951)  was stationed at Berlin-Templehof airport as a Russian linguist. He brought this ashtray back as a souvenir of his time in West Berlin.....

First Lieutenant Raymond H. Ruttle attended Kentucky University ROTC and was commissioned into the 67th Field Artillery Brigade, a part of the famous 42nd "Rainbow" Division, although he never made it overseas. After the war he joined his father in the florist business. Unfortunately Lieutenant Ruttle was not destined for a long life....his uniform is privately tailored and includes the blouse, trousers, puttees, service hat and great coat. There's also a University of Kentucky ROTC hat that needs a little TLC. Additionally, there's an enlisted quality blouse with no insignia, two pair of summer weight trousers and two sets of canvas leggings....his twin brother also served in the Great War, but neither went overseas.  I've never seen a belt buckle like the one that came with this group...

I was offered a donation of artifacts of family members spanning World War I to the early Cold War in West Berlin and so picked up a large plastic bin with some real treasures last night. They include artifacts from a WWI Artillery officer, a WWI Chaplain, a Korean War-era Air Force NCO, and a WWII soldier who served in the 94th Infantry Division in Europe.   First, Catholic Chaplain Declan Francis Carroll was born in Ireland on July 4th, 1886 and after immigrating to the U.S. lived in Northern Kentucky. He was made a Chaplain in the Army in the summer of 1918, after which he returned to his parish. Not much is left of his items but there was a nice souvenir 75mm shell casing from Verdun.....   Mark sends

That's the 530th fighter squadron,  311th fighter group. Yes, I've seen this and recognize some of the pilots

Great topic! I’ve got this great photo of their pilots- it’s undated and unidentified.  Possibly anyone on the thread has seen this before or has the IDs?
