I'm a Vietnam collector in MN... if that counts?  Good luck with your search, I'll send a link to this thread to a couple buddies of mine who may know more for you.  CC

With a Black edge like that perhaps the patch is English Made, the colored insert of course was added later before patch was sewn on, on what? looks like a Field Jacket right.

You're welcome Chris.  It took a little while but I was finally able to nail down who the helmet belonged to.  By the way, that's a really cool looking helmet!  And now you have the story of the man who wore it which makes it even better.  I love it.  Take care...Matt

Some recent ebay finds, I don’t usually purchase cartridge belts but I don’t have a 9 pocket model and this one’s named. I’m assuming the “ MPLS “ is for Minneapolis?haven’t found much about the owner but still researching. As well as a Logan smyth MC-1 & a screw pommel MK2, also named.

Very nice! I collect booklets and this has always been on my list.

USAAF and USN/marine aviation is pretty seldomly seen. Not that it’s obscure, just harder to find items and events that cater to it. Both have very drippy uniforms and impressions I might add. Another one I would say is foreign volunteers under the US in both theaters, like the Brazilians, and French that fought in the ETO and MTO. Both have neat kids and the French gear combos are awesome. Just 2 of the many underrepresented impressions imo.

doughboy   I agree that it is US made, but I don't think my grandfather knew how to do something like adding branch colors. Although, every GI had to know how to sew to fix holes in their clothing.
