I had several interactions with Eric over the years.  All were great.  Very sad to hear this.

Very sad to hear this news. Eric was very well known with his work with Military working dogs and he will be greatly missed.   Condolences to his family   Leigh

I am evaluating a small group from a veteran. The purple heart is the late war stamped variant done at the Discharge Facility.  It matches the style and size in Schwind's book. The problem is the last name is misspelled. I am sorry but have no pics to post yet.   Has anone ever seen a mispelled stamped PH? Everything in the group is legit, photo, name, patches, details etc. except the mispelled name. A C was used instead of an S in DORSEY.     Strange

Thank you!   Sorry I meant the 13th, well "elements of". Only info I was able to find had stated that. Interesting that the 20th cav has practically no mention anywhere though, had to find it through the 6th division then 78th artillery. I could assume because the 20th itself didnt see action.

Thank you for the input, glad to finally have the answer, or at least the most likely answer!

LOL! Great point Bob, indeed I have never seen a used pair. It seemed like an odd choice as a carry system considering flight suits already had leg pockets. Thanks for the input. Scott

A very nice uniform for a short lived organization. Where did you find a 15th Cavalry connection? My information source shows the 20th Cavalry was constituted June 3, 1916 in the Regular Army as the 20th Cavalry. It was organized on June 1,1917 at Ft. Riley, KS. On November 18, 1917 the unit was converted and redesignated as the 78th Field Artillery. The 20th Cavalry itself appears to not have been part of the 6th Division, but the 78th Field Artillery was.
