It would help to post a photo of the overall grouping and then you can be advised what items should be focused in on. -

For a group with high value items, it’s best to evaluate each high value item separately. Puts you on the road to arriving at a more logical overall value. -

I'm looking at this pistol made by Colt and I believe this is a post war due to the 2 inch barrel with step up sights I ran the serial number on the Colt serial number book and it does not come back to this model serial number 6450 located on the inner crane no other numbers has a letter U inside the crane as well what ever that means. Has the Ordnance Bomb stamp I assume that these were reworked after the war to have the 2 inch barrel installed. Just trying to find out what year this was made no luck on the serial number trace. -

Even though gold is $5,000 per ounce, this is 14k, so about half that. The value of this rare badge is well into the thousands and I think it exceeds the scrap value by a decent amount. -

Hi everyone! I recently acquired a new N1 Deck Jacket and I need help figuring out where it came from. It has features that are consistent with a WW2 model, but it seems to be in way too good of condition to be an original. If it is a repro (likely) I can't figure out the maker. Any ideas based on the images from eBay? -

Kathy, I reviewed the forum rules on the what’s it worth topic. I don’t see anything preventing you from taking a photos of the entire group and asking for opinions on what the group is worth. Other members have listed groupings in that topic. Just remember, opinions you receive are just that-options and will likely vary. Good luck to you. -

Those medals are scarce. They are solid 14K Gold. I would never suggest melting one of these, but the minimum value is the gold value since gold is high right now. I have not seen one sell recently so I am not sure what the "medal" value is right now. Kurt -

No problems Kathy! I am not familiar with the post of groups for estimates of value so I don’t want to give you bad advice. Assessing value for groupings is always a slippery slope. Some folks separate groups in order to try to maximize their profit. Other times I see groupings sell for more than the items would have individually, it all depends upon what items are in the group. Again, as a historian first I always hope items and the history that is associated with them stay together. It seems based on what you have said you might be leaning towards selling to the right person who is intent on preserving your grandfathers history as opposed to making as much cash possible? I think your cup for instance might do better as a part of the group than if you sold it individually, but the wing might be slightly more difficult to sell in the group than it would to a specific wing collector if you know what I mean. I still say plan to list it as a group and include as much history as you can on your grandfather. -

Ok. At least it came from the family. Not a collector put together to enhance value. But it would appear the vet did add-in items that date well after his service.
