POWs always seemed to save anything related to food. That includes Forks, Spoons, mess kits and canteens. That seems to be a theme I see over and over when I acquire POW groupings. They loved to save their forks and spoons. -

A great Constabulary tab shot from the FB page US Constabulary/Army of Occupation Militaria collectors. Note he is also a 78th INF vet, per the patch on his right shoulder. -

Hello all, A huge shout out to a fellow forum member for allowing me to be the custodian of these tremendous groupings. The first group belonged to a member of F/2/5 who was a replacement in October 1950. This man was killed on December 2, 1950 but was declared MIA until late 1953 when he was updated to killed in action. His purple heart was engraved and awarded early 1954. The second group belonged to a member or F/2/7 who was killed September 12, 1951 at the Punchbowl near Hill 749. An LA Times columnist served with him and recalled his death in his writing numerous times. -

Picked it up from an older Vietnam vet at a different flea market last Saturday for 10 bucks. A little rough but the zipper still works and I'll display it with my Korean era jackets. -

Are there any other features of the original Mitchel that make it easy to distinguish from copies (aside from the fact that they are typically new and unused)? -
