2002 CGF MICH helmet

Came from the Fort Bragg area. Purchased directly from the original owner who was a Green Beret. He said he wore it on multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan (including the Iraq Invasion). Has been painted desert tan. Has the original CFG pads and chinstrap.

2003 MSA MICH helmet

Factory tan color. Nice example of a solider painted helmet from the early 2000s. Still has the correct original pads and chinstrap.

I think you may have seen this one pwcosol ... this was in Mosul, Iraq a long long time ago. I couldn't find too many ACH/MICH pics. I usually wasn't wearing the damn thing.

Oops ... I meant crayj may have seen the above photo before. I think I sent him the unredacted version a while back.

Anyway, here's another early Iraq (pre-OpsCore/multicam days) photo of me talking with fellow Team Sergeant from another ODA that happens to be wearing his MICH. You helmet collector fans, check out that cool looking night vision/thermal combo! Would make for a great helmet display!

Here is the ACH in my collection. Sadly I misplaced the ballistic nape pad.

This one was worn by my dad in Kuwait in 2008 and then again in Afghanistan in 2010.

The helmet band is marked with blood type and laundry number. Also funny thing of note is he was promoted to LTC from Major mid Afghanistan deployment, so to save effort from resewing a new rank, he sharpied the Major rank black. I used to have a patrol cap that also featured this but I think I lost it in a hotel in California.804B2A93-D82B-4473-934D-18A775E5BFEE.jpeg.65b44f5d07ff7a083fd4602dae2728aa.jpegA02507AA-16F3-44CC-B856-3090F0009159.jpeg.4286b9378cec223538ff534ed423271e.jpeg617A6AA8-0FEA-446F-948C-DDF2AC8D55C2.jpeg.5bc2be212acd1ee591166c6c5519f533.jpeg

Bottom right looks like a Ranger named Sampson I knew.  Bobby was a true “break glass in time of war” Soldier. ;)

Very nice helmet, always like the look with the painted NVG mount plate. Any writing on the interior?

Sometime in mid to late 2004 after OIF1 the 101st began issuing MICH helmet in larger numbers At this time though the new ACU uniforms and helmet covers were not being issued. I deployed again back to Iraq in September of 2004, just after coming back from OIF1 in February of that same year. I can recall many Soldiers wearing the newly issued MICH helmet with the woodland/Desert covers. I myself was still had my Kevlar from OIF1, but we had added the 101st Division patch to our helmets. I did though acquire a new MICH in the summer of 2005 with the woodland/desert cover.

Photos from this period post OIF1, late 2004 and into 2005 seem to be hard to find. Still the number of reversible patched woodland/desert covers that I found around Fort Campbell after my return in December 2005 and then after meant they were used quite a bit until the issue of the first ACU covers. Many I bought were very well used and faded, meaning they had seen substantial field use. Of course I found many patched woodland patched Kevlar covers too, so I assume not everyone was initially issued a MICH.

Below is one of my mannequins dressed up from that late 2004/2005 time after OIF1 when the division wore BDUs again before being issued the ACUs. Also the other photo are just some of the patched MICH covers I bought back then.

The complete helmet set up is way cool, especially the communications setup.
