kfields Posted March 15 Share #1 Posted March 15 When I bought this years ago, the seller insisted the clock came out of a German halftrack. Whether it did or didn't, I liked the looks and bought it. It helped in my decision that the clock worked (and still works). The ashtray bottom part is from a 105mm case dated 1944 and the 4 pedestal knobs it sets on are WW2 vintage German 9mm cartridge cases.
manayunkman Posted March 15 Share #2 Posted March 15 Regardless of whether it’s from a vehicle of any kind it’s a cool clock. I love little details like the black ends of the minute and hour hands. It certainly is a period clock. Is the back of the clock exposed and where did its energy source come from?

It's a windup clock. The back is covered in a steel case. I'll take a pic of it shortly. Kim

manayunkman Posted March 15 Share #5 Posted March 15 One of the characteristics of a vehicle clock is a key configuration like yours.

I thought the dial has a military-ish look to it BUT I won't be crushed if the clock happened to have a commercial/civilian application rather than military. manayunkman Posted March 16 Share #10 Posted March 16 Ken Lewis was kind enough to post 3 dashboards from German halftracks and none of them have a clock.
