gunnerde Posted August 24, 2023 Share #41 Posted August 24, 2023 One added bit of context on the USS Midway one: "R-Div" is Navy speak for the Repair Division, usually made up of damage control and hull technicians. These are the guys who will do all of the plumbing, welding, and primary initial firefighting on the ship. I don't know about back when these were made, but at least since the 1990s there have also been the DCPOs, or Damage Control Petty Officers, who are temporarily assigned to a workcenter inside R-Div but maintain and fix damage control fittings- fire bottles, emergency breathing apparatuses, battle lanterns, watertight doors, et cetera.
