snafu100 Posted August 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2023 My Dad was in WWII and had a S1 Rate on his separation papers and his grave marker, it also said Cpl. My question is was a S1 Cpl in WWII a E-3 or E-4 ... thanks for any help working on a family picture board for Military members. Pete
patches Posted August 14, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2023 Grades for the whole Armed Forces were the reverse in WWII, ie a Private in the Marines or Army was a E 7, a Maser Sergeant/First Sergeant was a E 1, so in the Navy, a Seamen 1st Class then was a E 5.
