rathbonemuseum.com Posted May 4, 2023 Share #2 Posted May 4, 2023 I am only one opinion...and this wing is a tough one in pictures only. Things i like - cammed pin - the thickness of the pin - detail of back impression in balloon - size and position of NS Meyer shield - wear and patina on front of badge Two things that give me pause and need more scrutiny - the nature of the sterling stamp. Compare to another example here: http://ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/balloon/presleyjohnstonballoonobserver.shtml - I would also like to see the finish on the back in hand. Is that patina or a chemical applied color On balance, this wing leans towards being good.
