I was wondering if the individual bases in the AAF kept records of the trainees who went thru their airfields in WWII. Would it be possible to find all of the pilots who trained at a particular field?

Thank you for any assistance, Kat

Kat, the only thing I can think of that may help is to contact the Air Force Historical Research Agency at Maxwell AFB. Most of these bases are long closed, and the records should have been transferred. The one problem is the units were army then, but my understanding is Maxwell also has the AAF records as well.

They can be slow in responding due to staff shortages. Go here to contact them: https://www.afhra.af.mil/

Good luck!

Randy,

Thanks so much for the information. From what I have heard, the AAF did not keep good records of the training so not sure what is out there. I will check this out. I really appreciate your help.
