ArchangelDM Posted August 15, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2021 I’ve had this one for awhile and it’s now time to get it out of its case and take some photos. this helmet came to me from a very good friend of mine and I’ve had it for awhile, I’ve only recently decided to see whether it was a front or rear seam and I’m glad to say it’s a Front seam helmet that also features the shore party insignia on the front of the helmet. The marine has scratched off the paint in a square to the front, showing the cover and helmet to be totally original too each other. As you can see the whole thing is filthy and I only wanted to pull the helmet cover up so far and this is what I was comfortable with. The whole set is original too each other, from rust lines to dirt this old salt has been there and done it. The cover has black dirt and blood to one side. Marine shore personnel would bring supplies on the beaches and also get wounded marines to the Navy ships for treatment. Often these brave marines would take heavy mortar fire from the Japanese as they where an easy target, as you can see from this helmet on the front there seems to be a shrapnel or bullet hit ! Tearing the cover and glancing off the helmet. On the liner is the name Bouvier or Bouvilier, I would take a guess and say the jungle side is named but I'm Not willing to pull it apart. Happy Sunday and enjoy the pics. - Dean

ArchangelDM Posted August 16, 2021 Author Share #17 Posted August 16, 2021 Thankyou for all the kind words on the set, it’s very cool to see the different types of deterioration on these covers and how each one shows it’s use from light to heavy. - Dean

It has a really neat look to it. It was a camo at an earlier point in its life, with the brighter colors peering underneath the light wash
Brig Posted August 27, 2021 Share #20 Posted August 27, 2021 I've got several humorous nicknames for shore party and their associated red squares...but none of them are PC...so I'll just say nice lid
