Thor996 Posted May 8, 2021 #1 Posted May 8, 2021 I am absolutely heartbroken to have to post that the last surviving US Marine Corps survivor of the USS Indianapolis has passed away and is at peace with his loving wife Ola Mae in heaven now. Rest easy Sgt Ed. Over the last few years it was such a pleasure to have been able to get to know you and your family more. My wife and I will ALWAYS treasure in our hearts the time we got to spend with you and your wife. For the dinner out, for the ice cream afterwards and for the Easter Sunday we spent with you at your son's church. Our absolute heartbroken condolences to Sgt Ed's family. May he rest in eternal peace. There are now five remaining sailors alive from the Indianapolis. Semper Fi Sgt Edgar Harrell. RIP.
scottiques Posted May 16, 2021 #5 Posted May 16, 2021 Sad to see this as well-- saw it on the news on Friday. I met him a few years ago at a local Mexican restaurant. He was wearing a USS Indianapolis hat and shirt, so I went up and talked with him. He gave me the attached card. Scott
