bamascvreb Posted December 20, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2019 Appears to me the coloring is original and part of original manufacture but incant find anything similar-any ideas?
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted December 20, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2019 It's just weathering, the red is around all the brass grommets, the horizontal red lines are where the brass adjustment slides contact the belt, clearly there has been a chemical reaction and it is discoloring the belt. The yellow bit on the back of the belt is caused by sitting in the sun.
MattS Posted December 20, 2019 Share #3 Posted December 20, 2019 I agree, weathering and chemical reaction between the brass keepers and the dye in the polyester webbing. Much like verdigris (the green gunk) which will form when leather, brass, and moisture meet.

kammo-man Posted December 21, 2019 Share #5 Posted December 21, 2019 Dried wet sweat dries like this ......also the dye and good old fashioned sun light degrades the item just like this. Its a 50 year old item. owen
milsurp_scout_14 Posted December 21, 2019 Share #6 Posted December 21, 2019 This happens on virtually every used 1970s era pistol belt I've seen.
