stratasfan Posted December 13, 2019 #1 Posted December 13, 2019 Didn't know exactly the best place to post this question, so feel free to redirect if this isn't the spot! My question . . . an example - my Grampa served in the USN from 1956-1960. Would he have been eligible for the draft during the Vietnam years? Did they draft people who had already served?
atb Posted December 13, 2019 #2 Posted December 13, 2019 Sounds like he would have been too old to be drafted during Vietnam. Age 26 was the oldest one could be drafted at that time. If I remember it right, after someone left active duty, and they were still of draft age, their draft card had a status code showing they had fulfilled their commitment.
268th C.A. Posted December 13, 2019 #3 Posted December 13, 2019 Only if they signed up for the reserves...as far as I know.
stratasfan Posted December 13, 2019 Author #4 Posted December 13, 2019 Pulled out my paper . . . got his years slightly off . . . He enlisted in 1954, discharged in 1958, entering the reserves with a termination date of 1962.
