I have a IJA canteen (yes, I know this is the USMF, but leather is leather, and no replies on the WMF) which strap holding the cork cap is a bit dry and brittle.

Lots of discussion elsewhere here about reconditioning leather (and I cannot find that thread), but wondering if anyone has used this stuff:

https://www.talasonline.com/Leather-Dressing . or https://www.talasonline.com/Restoration-Leather-Conditioner

an art restorer who does some work for me said that is what the museum in Denver suggested.

and cork -- same canteen

The lanolin part is fine but I wouldn't use anything with neat's in it.
