ClaptonIsGod Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2018 Just picked this up for $11.50, appears to be new old stock. Is this a true rare green cover? Also, planning on putting it on a late war Schlueter repaint I have (sewn on straps) with a Korean liner, is this a good place for it? Seems like it'd work either if they were, in fact, used in Korea, or as an early Vietnam issue helmet.
ClaptonIsGod Posted December 21, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted December 21, 2018 Also, looks like it doesn't have chinstrap holes cut, am I supposed to do that/would it be reasonable to do so?
Justin Posted December 21, 2018 Share #3 Posted December 21, 2018 These are fairly common and cheap when unmarked. I wouldn't be too worried doing whatever you like with it.

'Flage Guy Posted December 21, 2018 Share #5 Posted December 21, 2018 If you don't want to cut slits in it, you can mount it to the Pot with some fancy folding (below).
AnDuc49 Posted December 21, 2018 Share #6 Posted December 21, 2018 Don't know about US use, but they were fairly common among ARVN troops starting around 1971
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted December 21, 2018 Share #7 Posted December 21, 2018 ARVN ones are different manufacture.
milsurp_scout_14 Posted December 22, 2018 Share #8 Posted December 22, 2018 It is legit; and none of the ones I've had had pre-cut chinstrap slits. The folding method posted above works, or cutting slits works too. Might not be rare, but always nice to see these come to light.
anton67 Posted December 23, 2018 Share #9 Posted December 23, 2018 http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/184243-od-vietnam-helmet-covers-update/ Take a look at this thread I started a while back on ARVN helmet covers. I purchased them directly from Vietnam.
