gwb123 Posted November 11, 2018 #1 Posted November 11, 2018 This was a touching and poignant story that was carried on CNN: A World War II hero returns to Germany to solve a mystery -- and meet an enemy https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/10/us/ww2-reunion-us-german-veterans/index.html Clarence Smoyer was a tank crewman during the Battle of Cologne during World War II. In his memories of the battle, he was haunted by the possibility that he may have unknowingly caused a civilian casualty. A remarkable chain of photographic evidence and an unlikely meeting with a surviving German tank crewman who was on the other side of that battle finally let him to answers in 2013.
