I just acquired this very interesting Bronze Star. It is officially hand engraved.

Based on the newspaper articles, it appears he was one of the Counter Intelligence Corps Special Agents who apprehended Tojo and a few other war criminals in Japan in 1945.

The medal was presented to him in 1946, which based on the engraving style makes sense.

That is a great medal and story. However, you would think that he would deserve a higher award for the important people he captured. You never know what the brass will do. I have a Bronze Star to an infantryman who single handedly destroyed two German machine guns and captured the crews.
