reschenk Posted November 23, 2019 Author Share #52 Posted November 23, 2019 I'm a bit disappointed I got no feedback regarding rack/inventory control numbers on M1859 Marine sergeants' swords. In another thread our member Varangian has asked our members to advise him of the serial numbers and dates of all the M1913 cavalry sabers they encounter. He is developing a dats base with the info. I am doing the same thing with these inventory/rack numbers on the M1859 sergeants' swords. I had hoped some of our members might have had examples in their collections which they would be willing to share. If any of you have any such examples or run across them at shows, dealers, etc I would appreciate it if you could note the numbers and any details and post them here or pm me the details. I would also like to know if you have or know of M1859 sergeants' swords with what appear to be nickel-plated blades. If so, what is the format of the Horstmann name/address? Also, does the blade have a Weyersberg king's head or other makers mark? Thanks for your help.
