phantomfixer Posted July 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2015 What are the thoughts on this helmet and the FLAG stencil....first thought was USN, a helmet for a postion on a ship??? man's name? The helmet is in a shop right now, but am going back next week to pick it up...front seam fixed bail, original straps....is 50.00 off the mark for a fair offer? Salvage Sailor Posted July 3, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 3, 2015 Probably USN FLAG is a term used aboard surface vessels to denote having a flag staff embarked. I.e. squadron, flotilla, fleet, task force, etc. it could also be a location aboard capital ships, i.e. the Flag Bridge where the staff resides aboard Battleships, heavy cruisers, carriers, command ships, etc.

Morlok Posted July 3, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2015 Thanks Sailor...50.00 bones is ok then?It is, until I run up there & offer $60 first!! That was a great helmet...If you can snag it for $50, jump all over it! Plus, I'm pretty sure it had both early chinstraps with brass hardware...Even better!
