I did a muster roll search for Mazalewski but it turned up nothing, so I think it's possible maybe served with a shore unit of some sort- maybe a Seabee? Love the VN tags. Mazalewski was a file called "Register of Commissioned and Warrant officers of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, 1 january 1954" which lists him as being a CDR. however, I have no access to that file so i cannot see what else it says.
