Tonomachi Posted November 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 18, 2014 I pick these up a while ago with two Army Security Agency shoulder sleeve patches so I'm assuming that the two unidentified black shields are ASA patches. These patches have a Chinese "Chung" symbol which I understands means "center" surrounded by a red dragon and Torii gate in the upper right. Since the larger shield patch looks Japanese made with the Torii gates that you see a lot of in Japan having to do with the Shinto religion I'm assuming that this patch has something to do with an ASA unit stationed in Japan. Does anyone recognize this patch?

jgawne Posted November 18, 2014 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2014 Could be, but they could also be the Guys Martial arts club. A lot of ASA guys are super secret to this day. Even some from the Nam era just refuse to talk about what they did.
vintageproductions Posted November 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 18, 2014 I agree they look like Karate Ghia patches
Tonomachi Posted November 18, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted November 18, 2014 Thanks for the input. Maybe an on base martial art club of some kind.
Allan H. Posted November 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 18, 2014 I'm going to vote for "decorative patch." The "chop" in the center is the kanji character for "China." The Tori gate in the top right hand corner is a symbol for Japan and the standing dragon is not an image that I have ever seen on any Chinese or Japanese insignia that I have ever seen.
