Found this at a garage sale today. Looks to be vietnam era? I'm thinking this was made for some chaplain kit, but not sure. Thoughts on what this may be for?

Thanks

What about a gun case or like bomb or weapon carrying case?

That looks like a pioneer tool box. Any markings inside the lid (paper label)?

The lid should have a small chain to keep it from opening too far. I can get measurements from a pioneer tool box later. There were a few sets that mostly differed by contents.

Yes it does have a paper label and chain. So I guess you may be right. But what would a chaplain be doing with this?

My guess is that he needed a wooden box and this one worked for whatever purpose he had for it.

It's a neat box though. I'll get some measurements for you to compare later. I'm 100% certain this is a pioneer tool box that was repurposed and that makes it neat.

Here are some rough measurements, about 36" long and the lid is 9 1/2 inches across. I can get better measurements tomorrow if you would like.

This is not part of any authorized chaplain equipment to my knowledge.

Perhaps just a good box to store items in and the person who did it was a chaplain.
