Patchcollector Posted November 6, 2014 Share #14 Posted November 6, 2014 Nice assortment of patches. As for ID,most are pretty self explanatory.Number 1 is US made, numbers 2,4,6,and 7 look to be VN war era incountry made. Not sure where and when number 8 was made. The 377th looks Korean made, which makes sense since they were in Korea, according to this Dustoff site: http://www.dustoff.org/patches/patches-all.asp

Thor996 Posted November 7, 2014 Share #18 Posted November 7, 2014 Bob, if you would please, how would a new collector distinguish an VN made from a Post VN Korean made patch?
gwb123 Posted November 7, 2014 Share #19 Posted November 7, 2014 #6 Might be post war Korean made. I've seen ones that were made with a shiny grey material, almost looks like sharkskin suit material. How to tell the difference? In this case the details are a bit less defined. Please see the attached photo.
vintageproductions Posted November 7, 2014 Share #20 Posted November 7, 2014 The easiest way to tell is the embroidery style. The background (light blue) looks very Korean. The biggest set off is the paper backing. The type of paper used on this patch is very typically found on Korean embroidered patches in the mid-70's. The Vietnamese used a paper backing also, but it is very different.
quack Posted November 7, 2014 Share #21 Posted November 7, 2014 The 377th is definitely Korean. I flew with them in Korea 1973-75.
